Meet Candice.
Candice is a quirky human who loves making all kinds of things in all kinds of mediums, but primarily focuses on 3-dimensional creations.
She grew up in a family of visual artists where creative expression was always respected and encouraged. Throughout her life, she’s dabbled in many different styles and mediums. Whether it was photography, claymation, drawing, sculpting, video editing, crafting, painting, woodworking, whatever... she was happiest just to be creating something - and usually with her hands.
She earned a degree from the University of Maryland in American Studies, with focus areas in Media Studies and Popular Culture. In college she taught herself video editing, and after graduating, took some more film editing and production classes at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. This background helped her find a role as a Director of Digital Media, producing documentary-style videos and demonstrative graphics and visuals for over fifteen years.
After years spent mostly at a computer, and with encouragement and support from those in her life, she rediscovered her love for art and began exploring new avenues. She created whimsical sculpted cakes, found inspiration from other amazing artists and tried carving pumpkins, and began taking figure sculpting classes at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia.
Candice strives to bring joy into the world, and believes wholeheartedly in embracing the entirety of the quote, “A jack of all trades, but master of none… is oftentimes better than master of one.” With many passions and skills, she refuses to pick just one lane! In recent years, she has also added audio producing, podcasting, and teaching to her resume. She co-produces and co-hosts a biweekly podcast for Women in Film & Video called MediaMaker Spotlight which is available on all podcast platforms as well as at mediamakerspotlight.com.
These days, you can find Candice proudly teaching at both The Art League and Emma’s Art Studio in Bethesda - where she’s also the studio manager.
Candice and her cat, Hazel currently reside in the DC metro area.
